One things I learned while transitioning to a vegan lifestyle was to explore more international foods, especially from countries that don’t regularly include dairy in their food. Brayden had told me about a wonderful experience he had eating Ethiopian food in Providence less than a week ago and I had to try it. Friends had mentioned a few places that were their favorite but Blue Nile in my neighborhood would be my first Ethiopian experience. (mainly because I had someone who offered to take me there :P)
The interior is quaint and dimly lit much like every cafe in JP. The waitress spoke in a thick accent and was very helpful explaining the menu. We opted for the vegetarian selection for two. The way in which the food is served is on a large platter lined with a layer of Injera, a type of flat brown bread with a spongy texture. The food comes in little piles that are supposed to be collected with the injera. From the piles, I remembered the Gomen Wet standing out. It’s chopped collared greens seasoned in herbs and spices.
This place also happens to be very inexpensive and the service is very speedy. It’s a nice choice for a casual environment and a great option for vegans. Feel free to check it out here:
