So this place isn’t a dedicated vegan cafe but they had a couple vegan options and I found the meal I had here worth talking about. I was gallivanting around Brooklyn looking for a couple record stores before my bus home was scheduled to leave. I wanted to get something in my stomach before boarding so I scanned the area for quick eats.
In the midst of the Bedford ave mayhem is Vietnamese cafe and take out window, An Nhau. They were advertising a pretty sweet happy hour special that I unfortunately didn’t have time to take part of. Their take out window for Bahn Mi (a Vietnamese sandwich) was pretty happening though and they had a veggie sandwich. I checked in with the girl at the counter and she assured me it was vegan and even thanked me for ‘helping to save the environment.’ I thought that was really sweet.
As for the sandwich, the baguette was super fresh and toasty. The mushrooms were deliciously marinated in a slightly sweet sauce. There was also some pieces of lightly browned tofu surrounded by some fresh cucumber and carrots. It was a really delicious light summer sandwich. I highly recommend stopping by for one if you’re on the go. Or maybe you can partake in the happy hour special I missed out on.
